A Blog (Post) About Blogs
*Originally posted Thursday, June 4, 2009
I don’t use an RSS aggregator (pick your chin up off the floor) … rather, I “favorite” all of my favorite online destinations (archaic, I know).
I really, really need to start pulling my favorite non-Tumblr blogs (I am religious about keeping up on my tumblr dashboard!) onto a customized dashboard STAT. If I don’t, I’ll forget all about them and let them go for a month before returning, with hours of reading material at my disposal (not necessarily what I am looking for in a quick blog break).
In the spirit of keeping track of the good guys, here’s a quick list of interesting blogs you should check out:
- Kodak’s 1,000 Words: http://1000words.kodak.com/ (a picture tells a thousand words … and Kodak’s is a great example of a sponsored blog)
- Flickr: http://blog.flickr.net/en (coining the term “photo blogging”?)
- Seth Godin: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/ (a marketing guru tells it like he sees it)
- Freakonomics: http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/ (like the book, love the blog!)
- Mashable: http://mashable.com/ (a blog about social networking)
And my favorite “all about nothing” blogs? Surprisingly they are both unemployed Nebraskans … if you have a chance, check out:
- TheNormanNation: A fellow former Nebraskan living abroad in England, writing about the adventures of the unemployed, often boasting of his “nearly 80 followers, worldwide.”
- A Memoir of my Unemployment: An aspiring journalist (and Nebraskan) with a quick wit and a passion for her position(s) … as a temp.
